MORE AND MORE PROS ARE USING PERFORMANCE PROFILING COMBINED WITH THE PRECISION AND CONSISTENCY OF ELITE’S COMPUTERIZED SHARPENING TO IMPROVE THEIR GAME. NOW YOU CAN TOO.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BLADES

There is no piece of equipment more important to your on-ice performance than your blades. We believe there is a perfect blade shape for every player — a blade that best suits your playing style and allows you to get the most out of your game.

That means finding your optimal profile and corresponding radius of hollow – that perfect combination that makes you feel great on the ice. It’s as easy as 1-2-3.

1

Find the right profile to maximize your performance on the ice

Your blade profile, also called the contour, is the curve of your blade from toe to heel. It determines your balance point and how much of your blade will be in contact with the ice. Your profile has a dramatic effect on your skating performance. Even very tiny changes in blade shape make a huge difference to the way your blades feel on the ice.

Performance profiling is about combining multiple radius curves on one blade — to put more blade in contact with the ice (to gain speed and stability), while also keeping the agility and explosiveness essential to the game of hockey.

Finding the right profile can improve your speed and efficiency, your balance and stability, your power and acceleration, your agility and edge control and ultimately your confidence and performance.

Take the time to figure out which profile helps you skate your best. You’ll know it when you feel it. It comes down to personal preference, depending on your skating style, size, weight and center of balance.

ELITE offers the widest range of profiles on the market and can also provide profiles offered by other manufacturers.

Our experts can help you find the profile that gives you the attributes you need (speed, balance, agility) to up your game.

2

Choose the right sharpening hollow that goes with your profile

When a skate blade is sharpened, a groove is cut down the center of the blade, creating two even edges on either side. The deeper the groove, the blade will cut, correspondingly, deeper into the ice. Similarly, the shallower the groove, the more the blade with glide across the surface without digging in. A shallower groove allows players to move faster while expending less energy.

Knowing that the depth of this groove – called the “radius of hollow” – is consistent and tailored to your own needs is essential to getting the most out of your blades. You may want to adjust your Radius of Hollow, depending which profile you choose. We offer hollows from ¼” to 1¼”.

3

Maintain your blade shape with every sharpening so that you can trust your blades every time you step on the ice

Once you’ve found your ideal profile, don’t lose it with a poor sharpening. Even very tiny changes in blade shape make a huge difference to the way your blades feel on the ice.

Hand sharpening as well as simple automated sharpeners without computer controls will gradually erode the shape of your blade and undermine your performance.

The days of bad sharpenings are over. ELITE’s sharpening technology represents a revolutionary leap forward in blade performance. Fully computer automated, ELITE’s innovative system controls the sharpening process with an extreme level of precision which cannot be obtained by any other manual or semi-automatic sharpener on the market.

Preserve your blade shape and consistent edges for the life of your blade on the ELITE E-S4 computerized sharpener — the only system that won’t ever deform the shape of your blades. You can trust your blades with ELITE.
