Performance profiling

Performance profiling

ELITE’s performance profiling takes your blades, and your performance, to another level. We put multiple radiuses on your blade to give you the best combination of attributes to suit your style, so that you feel great on the ice.

A single curve profile is a zero-sum game. If you make it flatter you will increase your glide speed and stability but lose agility and initial acceleration. If you make it more curved, you will increase agility but lose speed and stability.

Performance profiling is about strategically combining several curves on one blade, allowing you to have it all — more agility, more speed, more stability and more acceleration.

At ELITE, we fit our performance profiles into two broad categories: Heel Glide Profiles and Center Glide Profiles. The best choice for you depends on your skating style.

HEEL GLIDE PROFILES

In our Heel Glide profiles, the blade is flattened from the middle of the foot back towards the heel, creating an area with more steel on the ice. This gives the blade excellent glide characteristics, and it feels extremely stable.  The front part of the blade is “lightened up” with a more curved radius to keep some agility and explosiveness.

Our Heel Glide profiles come in duo-, triple-, and quad-curve sequences. They are all more curved in front and become progressively flatter towards the heel.

EL3-2 Triple6’ – 13’ – 26’Like EL3-1, but even more “solid”. Favors wide arcs over agility. Less pitch.
EL4-1 Quad6’ – 9’ – 11’– 13’Quite light and agile. Smooth transition from rocker to glide.
EL4-2 Quad7’– 10’– 13’– 16’Very smooth, well balanced. Good mix of power and agility.
EL4-3 Quad6’– 9’– 11’– 26’Very solid, smooth, stable. Powerful, slightly “heavy” feel.

CENTER GLIDE PROFILES

The Center Glide profiles flatten an area under the middle of the blade to provide more contact with the ice surface, while the toe and heel sections are comparatively rockered. We offer two different types of Center Glide profiles.

SCS SERIES

The SCS Series is ELITE’s proprietary family of Center Glide profiles, with a sequence of flatter radius curves under the middle of the foot, and comparatively rockered toe and heel sections. The effect is a very powerful and smooth-skating profile, which provides high top-end speed and powerful striding turns while preserving agility and explosiveness..

The SCS series has proved to be very popular with pro players. More than half the Montreal Canadiens now skate on the SCS series, as well as a growing number of pro players across the NHL.

NamePlayer feedback
SCS-1“lightest” or most agile, with the most rockered heel and toe sections.
SCS-2same mid-foot wide-radius curves as the SCS-1, but with slightly less rockered heel and toe for greater stability.
SCS-3slightly flatter curves under the mid-foot, plus the less rockered heel and toe of the SCS-2, with the most “solid” feel of the three profiles.

Center Flat Series

Center Flat profiles increase the area of blade in contact with the ice surface by creating a flat section at or near the middle of a generic mono blade. They come in a variety of lengths of flat section, and also in neutral and more forward-pitched configurations.

MONOS AND MINIMAL PITCH PROFILES

We are strong champions of the multi-radius Performance Profiles. However, we also offer a complete line of mono and minimally pitched profile templates for skaters looking for something closer to a generic, “out of the box” profile.

GOALIE PROFILE TEMPLATES

Goalie profiles are much flatter than player profiles, providing superior stability and lateral power, helping the goalie stay in balance and move quickly side-to-side.

The standard line of ELITE Goalie Profile templates includes both Monos and Performance Duos. Many butterfly style goalies are finding they like the feel of a Performance Duo, with a slightly shorter radius curve in the front. These profiles preserve the required stability, but offer a slightly more aggressive pitch forward, which some goalies feel gives them quicker lateral movement and allows them to regain their feet more quickly after dropping down onto the ice.
